Take on the role of Yanus – a private investigator with a troubled past, now trying to solve an unexpected case revolving around a stolen data carrier, all this while fighting his own inner demons, the urban gangs and a nigh-omnipotent corporation responsible for the downfall of the city he used to call his own. Set in a futuristic sci-fi dystopian city you need to investigate, gathering clues, in order to solve the case...
SlavicPunk: Oldtimer is an isometric shooter video game, based upon the works of Michał Gołkowski, a renown Polish science-fiction and fantasy books author. The game sees players striding through the dark corners of the Bladerunner-esque city, using stealth elements, hacking and environmental puzzle solving. This is a game you can blast through in no time at all or you can take your time, explore every area and hack every possible electronic device you can find. The environments are big and bold and you really get a sense of how bleak this dark, rainy, neon-soaked future is. The game sees you spending large amounts of time trudging around trying to work out how to get to the next part of the game and then, all of a sudden, you're surrounded by a gang that seem almost impossible to defeat (even on the easiest setting). It's simply a case of taking your time and coming up with a strategy to defeat your opponents. Use cover and hiding spots to ensure that you stay alive.
I did find the constant explore / attack structure of the game meant that it got a little repetitive too quickly. However, it's challenging and interesting enough to keep you engaged for some time. Personally I enjoyed the neon-drenched atmosphere enough to keep me plodding ever forward. Not an essential purchase, but sci-fi fans will love the atmosphere created here. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
