Order your band into various formations

MiceGard is a cute, challenging game that sees you fighting for survival as part of a group of viking mice. You're tasked with heading outside of your village and exploring foreign lands. Bring back resources to grow your village, or rescue captured comrades. All the while, you'll need to take out hoards of toads and flying insects who don't take kindly to you entering their habitat.

As you roam the lands you can order your band into various formations depending on the situation. You can form a circle with each mouse facing outwards in order to protect any rescued mice you have found. Or you can close up formation and fire a volley of arrows at any approaching enemies. And if the threat level is low, why not disband your group allowing them to think for themselves when gathering resources.

The hand-drawn graphics are part of the game's charm

Probably the biggest issue for some will be the fact that you can't save the game mid-level. So, if you are defeated before finishing each level then you'll need to restart that level, which can be more than a little frustrating.

The hand-drawn esthetics add much to the game's charm. While there are much better examples in a similar vein, MiceGard is a fun distraction that brings a little something new to the table.
