It's mindless but a hell of a lot of fun

Warhammer 40,000 Darktide is a third-person co-op focused experience from the award-winning team behind the Vermintide series. Take back the city of Tertium from hordes of bloodthirsty foes in this intense and brutal action shooter.

You start the game with the option to choose your player, their appearance and their skills. In all honestly I'm not sure any of this really counts for much, as horde games just see you having to hack and slash your way through hordes of enemies. It's fun in short blasts, but soon gets tiresome. It's mindless but a hell of a lot of fun. Work with your team to... What am I saying? There's no real strategy. Just keep firing or hacking at the never ending stream of beasties. If your teammates are downed, revive them and fight ever forward to complete each level. Rinse and repeat.

Customisation of your character includes their physical appearance, voice, and origin. Choose your class to determine which unique traits and skill sets they will make use of in battle. Will you be a seasoned veteran of the Imperial army, a snarky outsider, or a fiery zealot?

The game looks fantastic and there's much to recommend it to Warhammer fans. But, as with all hoard games, the endless killing soon grows a little tiresome. But in short doses, and with friends, this is an enjoyable offering from the Warhammer universe.
