Wolfgang Frisch's original score for Animal is released via Plaza Mayor Company Ltd. The movie follows the entertainers on an all-inclusive Greek island as they are preparing for the height of the new season. Kalia, the leader of the group, and always has to keep the colourful program alive. As the work becomes increasingly harder and more intense, things get out of hand. But the show must go on... The music for Animal represents an incredible musical souvenir of the film. There's a fantastic mix of club-esque anthems ('In My Head') and tongue-in-cheek folk music (like the Oompah band vibe of 'Schuhplattler'). For casual score lovers there's nothing here to raise their pulse. This is purely a score for fans of the movie or of the clubbing scene in general. Talking about the project, composer Wolfgang Frisch says: "This one was quite a challenge - I had to deliver so many different styles of music and most of the tracks even before shooting. Many of the scenes include a lot of dancing and singing, so in order to get the choreography right before shooting, I had to deliver up front. Part of the music came quite easily, while others were really hard to envision – it can take some time to get your head around that particular universe, which Sofia Exarchou used to call 'A Modern Circus'. So, the whole process was quite demanding, but finally rewarding and a lot of fun in the end!" While it's only really going to appeal to fans of the film, there's certainly something here for every taste, and it certainly sets it aside from the usual movie soundtrack. What Frisch delivers is fresh, invigorating and certainly original. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
