Irish rock duo Dea Matrona release their debut album For Your Sins, released the same day as their new single, 'Stuck on You', which is taken from the album. This is an LP that has an intoxicating blend of influences from indie pop and rock from Fleetwood Mac, HAIM, The White Stripes and Arctic Monkeys... As debut albums go, they don't get more impressive than For Your Sins. Over 12 songs (32 min, 54 sec) Dea Matrona really hit their stride. This feels like a confident second album. Not only is there an incredible range of diversity on display, but the performances shine through as the work of artists at ease with their work. There's rock, pop and a little folk mixed in. Tracks like 'Every Night I Want You' illustrate how comfortable they are writing and performing indie pop tracks as much as they are delivering sold rock anthems like 'Stamp on it'. There's even a country twang to 'Won't Feel Like This Forever'. Discussing the album, Dea Matrona say: "It’s a record about trying to find ourselves and failing over and over again until we realised that part of the fun of being in Dea Matrona is that we’ll never really know who we are or what we want to say". They may not know who they are or what they want to say, but Dea Matrona deliver a timeless collection of solid songs that you'll want to revisit for quite some time to come. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
