Cardiff cult artist John MOuse is back with his 7th studio album Back to the Clubhouse. MOuse delivers a long-player of new wave synth pop vignettes. His character-filled narratives fill a backdrop of ‘80s electronic New Wave synth... Back to the Clubhouse is an album bookended by two tracks depicting the harsh realities of love. Everything sandwiched inbetween sees John MOuse delve into the rich lyrical themes including the absence of parental figures in 'Twist Base Peacock Chair' and 'Bad Babysitter', the spilling of work into life and vice versa in 'An Estimate Shows…' while 'And Then Their Phone Goes' questions the invasion of other people’s private space into a public space - and who is ultimately right? Once again MOuse dips in and out of his numerous talents (singer / songwriter / poet / comedian) to deliver an album that is hard not to instantly love. This is a release that you'll slowly change your opinion on your favourite track, depending on your current mood. Maybe you're up for a little poetry. Perhaps a bit of comedy. Or... maybe, a good old '80s new wave theme laden track. Whatever you're looking for you'll find it here. MOuse even pays homage to Harold Faltermeyer's '80s 'Axel F' in 'Siop Fawr'. It's this ability to transform from track to track that makes this a compelling and timeless release. Those who have been following MOuse over the years will enjoy this fun, upbeat release. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
