Plaza Mayor Company Ltd release Simone Cilio's original score for The Forest Through the Trees. Chloe and her step dad, Ken are dealing with the disappearance of Kathy, Chloe's mother and Ken's wife. After a painful year, and with the help of Chloe's friend Ava, they investigate a clue that leads them on a collision course with a dangerous demonic cult. Will they find Kathy? Can Chloe, Ken, and Ava survive the night...?

Simone Cilio delivers something rather rare: A horror/suspense score that doesn't lean on cliched tropes of the genre. I have to admit that, for the most part, I find modern horror scores to be lack-lustre and generally just don't work outside of the movie they are crafted for.

Cilio, however, delivers 21 tracks (58 min, 14 sec) of macabre, eerie and melancholic themes and set pieces. The end result is a strange, yet oddly compelling, collection of finely crafted compositions.

Pieces, like 'Family Affair', have beautifully soulful, classical music vibes. Whilst tracks like 'Her Home' are richly layered with threatening undertones. 'Tell Her I'm Sorry' has a wonderfully "epic" movie theme moment. And I loved the choral arrangement at the core of 'The World Is Mine'. It reminded me of John Williams' work on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. The upbeat, off-kilter closing track 'Coda' will have you grinning from ear to ear.

This is certainly a score you'll want to spend a lot of time with.
