Horror Night with Tung Tung Tung Sahur purports to be a horror puzzler. It is most certainly a puzzle game, scary not so much.

Sahur has engaged in some creative murder and locked a few creatures in the basement

You play as an unnamed protagonist who crashes his car, unfortunately outside of Sahur's House. You approach the house looking for help. Entering the house, you notice that there appears to be blood smears on the floor, and you hear the voice of Sahur, at which point you get your first jump scare.

Logically you would leave, but our protagonist decides the better course would be to immediately start walking around the house, moving stuff and seeing if anything will open anything else.

This is the biggest weakness in the game. All through the game, whilst you are solving the puzzles, there is no real aim to your activities. I spent most of the game thinking: Why am I doing this and what is my motivation? Mostly the aim appeared to just gain trophies rather than progress the non-existent narrative.

That is until you reach about the halfway mark which, in the case of this game, is about thirty minutes in. Seems Sahur has engaged in some creative murder and locked a few creatures in the basement. They can’t leave or he will kill them, so it’s up to you to get evidence of his diabolical deeds. Well, at least we finally got to some motivation to solve some more puzzles.

This isn’t help by the fact that the big bad is a walking orange sausage, which just makes you want to shout: "It’s a giant weaner!" - Shades of Austin Powers. The game relies on simple jump scares which are ineffective.

There are mini quests to find codes and electronic keys to gain items, such as a gun

The game mechanics are simple, if not always logical. Most of the puzzles involve finding keys to get more items, but with no idea what their worth is going to be. There are also mini quests to find codes and electronic keys to gain items, such as a gun.

As you progress, you get a bit of respite from Sahur by gaming the use of a pistol, which sort of just floats in front of you, not sure why they couldn’t code in a hand as well. The same goes with the basketball game that you must engage in, to progress.

The game provides painkillers to regain health; this is not a real problem as the house is littered with painkillers. However, if you crouch for most of the game Sahur rarely can find you, guess a weaner can’t look down. If you do get caught, then the game respawns you in the same place. The game has an auto save, but there is a lamp which allows manual saves.

One the plus side, what little vocal work the game does have is well done. However, the environments are little better than a PS2.
