The original soundtrack to the video game Flint: Treasure of Oblivion is released by composer Winifred Phillips. In the game you discover what happened before the events of Robert Louis Stevenson’s beloved tale, Treasure Island. Explore a magnificent world, from the french city of Saint-Malo to the exotic landscapes of central America, as you witness how the infamous Captain Flint obtained his notorious treasure...

Winifred Phillips original soundtrack for Flint: Treasure of Oblivion features 10 tracks (25 min, 50 sec) that skirt around cliched "pirate" themes whilst delivering a much more layered and rich tapestry of pieces that constantly surprises.

The album kicks off with 'Beastly Buccaneers', which sets the scene nicely with a very familiar sounding palette. It's obvious to anyone listening that this is a "pirate" themed track. It has action, adventure... pretty much all the hallmarks for a musical accompaniment to an exciting adventure.

'Treasure of Oblivion' feels more like a jazz/rock '80/'90s TV theme to an action/adventure series. It's memorable and well structured.

Even the more subtle, atmospheric pieces, like 'On the Treasure Trail' are built on solid foundations, with thoughtful and engaging elements.

'Sea Wolves' represents a more eerie, unsettling side to Phillips' compositions. As with the rest of the album, the choice of instruments helps greatly to unsettle the listener, whilst at the same time laying the groundwork (without reverting to cliches) for the game's setting.

Whilst it works well within the game, it also stands on its own right as a collection of interesting themes. I've been playing a lot of the game Phasmophobia in VR recently and I found that the soundtrack to Flint: Treasure of Oblivion helped add an extra layer of suspension and mystery.
