Simone Cilio's original score for Rumpelstiltskin is released via Plaza Mayor Company Ltd. The father of a young woman lies to the king about his daughter’s gold-spinning ability. Imprisoned until she can prove she can produce gold, she is surprised when an imp promises to help her... but in return she must give him her first born child... The music for Rumpelstiltskin delivers some impressively dark set pieces. 'This is an Old Story' and 'Do Not Wear That Mask' are very similar in style to Christopher Young's work on Hellraiser and The Fly II. Simone Cilio (Active Shooter, The Forest Through the Trees, Gunner, Lockdown) delivers some memorable themes over the cause of this 18 track (37 min, 45 sec) score. Some of them, like 'A Bear' finish just as they are starting to build towards something promising. The majority of the set pieces are horror/suspense themes, so if you're a fan of the genre you'll find a lot to engage with here. The music is certainly a very strong force in the movie for creating an unsettling atmosphere and building the suspense. I was slightly thrown by the closing instrumental jazz number 'Rumpelstiltskin Loves You'. However, on reflection it really is an interesting way to conclude the score. I loved what Cilio delivered here. Horror is yet another genre he has mastered. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
