Alexis Grapsas' original score for What We Hide is released via Plaza Mayor Company Ltd. After their mother suffers a fatal overdose, two sisters fear that the foster system will separate the and decide to hide the body. But their lie may be discovered and they must decide how far they are willing to go to keep their secret... The soundtrack to What We Hide represents a bittersweet collection of melancholic, minimalist themes. Over the course of the album's 9 tracks (24 min, 29 sec) we are treated to quite the array of emotions. This end result is a lovingly crafted score which resonates with the listener on so many levels. Discussing the project, composer Alexis Grapsas says: "What We Hide is a powerful film about secrets and the collateral damage caused by addiction. I tried to approach the story delicately, and let it breathe through the lens of two young sisters. It’s one of the most minimalistic scores I have ever written and the objective was to find hope and strength within beauty and simplicity." If I had one grumble, it's that the score is too short. I could easily have listened to much more from Grapsas in a similar vein. Whilst it may be short, it's emotionally rewarding. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
