Nova Scotia rock trio The Boojums release their self-titled debut album via Having Fun Records. Their sound is a throwback and a leap forward - melding '60s garage rock, '70s punk, '80s alternative and '90s power-pop into something undeniably fresh...

The Boojums' debut, self-titled, release pretty much hits the ground running. The album contains 12 songs (31 min, 46 sec). The beauty of this LP is that from track to track the band morphs and shifts to constantly reinvent its sound. The '90s indie anthem that is 'Football' is about as far removed from the rock heavy 'Yellow Lines', which is as far removed from the '80s inspired 'Dan's Transmission' as you can get.

This is a band with a lot to say, a lot of talent and a strong, powerful ability to turn in a catchy layered song with ease.

Whilst I wish the album had been a little longer, I totally enjoyed my time with The Boojums.
