Maximilien Mathevon's latest electronic ambient concept album builds on his huge back catalogue. Soundless Echo is released via Plaza Mayor Company Ltd and offers another interesting and diverse collection of modern pieces arranged around a progressive backdrop of modern society... Soundless Echo consists of 6 works (43 min, 29 sec) that showcase more of Maximilien Mathevon's skillful talents when it comes to creating emotive themes that transport us to other realms and dimensions. There are obvious parallels to be drawn with the work of Vangelis. However, while I've always found Vangelis' compositions to be subjectively hit and miss when it comes to delivering memorable themes, Mathevon has pretty much managed to offer a constant stream of progressive, yet diverse, albums where there's much to engage with on each track. This latest album is no exception. Here Mathevon delivers pieces that are not only richly layered, but leave the listener with so much to contemplate. For example, 'I Hear Your Heartbeat' is sonically compelling, and once you start exploring the title the sound takes on a totally new meaning. 'Waves of Silence' is probably this album's heart and soul. It's a mournful, melancholic piece which slowly builds as it shifts and changes to a wonderfully satisfying conclusion. I loved 'Frozen Nature' for it's regular pitch shifts, throwing the listener off guard and delivering a truly emotive experience. Another incredibly emotionally charged release from Mathevon, where each track rewards repeat listeners. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
