Maximilien Mathevon's original score for Au Nom du Devoir is released via Plaza Mayor Company Ltd. This six-episode documentary series recounts six interventions by Paris firefighters, confronted with extraordinary fires. Through poignant testimonies and immersive archival footage, the series highlights the dedication and professionalism of these firefighters. Mathevon’s score, blending synthetic textures, electronic rhythms, and intimate instrumentation, underscores the urgency of the action and the emotional impact of these events on the lives of those who experienced them...

Maximilien Mathevon's soundtrack for Au Nom du Devoir consists of 18 tracks (52 min, 38 sec). What's most impressive here is the diversity of styles on offer. From the melancholic, heartwarming beautiful (on tracks like 'Blessures') to high-octane themes (like 'Dans Le Labyrinthe'), Mathevon keeps the listener on their toes... constantly. From one piece to the next you're never really prepared for the shift in tone, and this for me was one of the score's attractions.

It's subtle where it needs to be, and loud and brusk on occasion. If you're a fan of electronic scores then you'll find plenty to sink your teeth into here. Once again Mathevon delivers a rich collection of set pieces, which build into something truly magical. Another multi-layered collection of intricate and intriguing themes.
