When Susie finds out the Secret Seven's password, the friends
are forced to call a meeting, where they decide to make their
club more exciting by practising their detective skills. They
all go in to town, and split up to shadow people in the streets
and write down their descriptions. Unfortunately, George has
a spot of bad luck. Trailing a man to his home one night,
he is caught and dragged home to his parents, who force him
to resign from the Secret Seven...

Ahead, Secret Seven is
the latest Enid Blyton based audio book released by the BBC.
This series is read by Sarah Greene who, I'm happy to report,
adds just the right amount of excited wonderment to her reading
to ensure that small, wandering minds pay attention.
I
remember this series from my childhood, and I was a little
disappointed to discover that Enid Blyton's tales have not
aged as gracefully as me. I also remember Greene from my childhood
and was surprised to see, thanks to the picture of her on
the back of the CD case, that she has aged better than me.
In all seriousness though,
this audio CD will certainly entertain many a small child.
After
George resigns from the Secret Seven, the gang elect Scamper
the spaniel as a temporary member, and carry on with their
shadowing activities. Soon they are glad of his protection,
for they find themselves in the midst of a dangerous adventure.
Can they solve the mystery of the man with the crooked hand,
the hidden coal-hole, and the man with a dog lead, but no
dog? And will George ever be readmitted to the Society? Well,
I'm afraid you'll have to buy this two-disc collection to
find out.
In
a time when kid's are shunning books and classic stories for
violence and mayhem on console games, it's great to see the
BBC providing some classic entertainment to try and prevent
our younger generation from growing up too soon. This story
is unabridged - reproduced here in it's entirety.
