When Jack Black and his musical compadre Kyle Gass get together,
they are better known to their legions of fans as Tenacious
D. After a hit TV series, a smash album and sell-out tours,
the hard rockin' duo have now got their very own movie: Tenacious
D in The Pick of Destiny...
You
have to take your hat off to Titan. They take a niche market
release (a script book based on a movie that has a very limited
audience) and they give it the star treatment - full colour
glossy pages packed with pictures. Now why can't they do the
same when it comes to some of their other releases (I'm thinking
Stargate: SG-1 guide books here)?
The
book contains the movie script, a lengthy Q&A with Jack
Black and Kyle Gass and tons of stills from the movie. The
sad thing is, as well put together as this book is, you know
it has "Remainder book store" written all over it.
A couple of months from now, when the movie has stopped showing,
and it's almost a certainty that you'll be able to pick this
up for under a fiver.
What
it does, it does well. Whether you'll enjoy it will come down
to two very basic things: whether you liked the movie and
whether you are a fan of script books. Now you can't tell
me that's a bigger market than the Stargate audience
now, can you?
