Still the grooviest crime-fighting quintet around, Scooby,
Shaggy and the gang are back and this time they are armed
with an arsenal of Internet-age gizmos and gadgets, from laptop
computers and Personal Digital Assistants to mobile communicators
and Global Positioning Systems. Now, ghouls and the goons
behind them face a tougher time than ever trying to get away
with their ghastly goings on. Join the crew as they battle
giant gargoyles in Paris, uncover spooky ghosts at the international
world cup hockey event in Moscow and solve the mystery of
the wrestler's ghost. as well as Valentine's Day in Coolsville...
In
Wrestle Maniacs, Freddie, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy, and
Scooby enter the world of pro wrestling, with colourfully
costumed wrestlers who are reluctant to wrestle, due to the
fact that their arena is being haunted by a ghost. Along the
way they encounter a shady promoter who wants the matches
to continue at any cost, but in the end, with a little ingenuity,
the gang manages to prevail and restore order.
Diamonds
are a Ghoul's Best Friend sees the gang travel to Moscow
to a championship hockey match. This episode features the
Frozen Fiend, who apparently froze to death in Siberia and
takes it out on everyone by pelting officials with hockey
pucks and stealing the Grand Emperor's Cup out of its case.
With so much at stake, it is up to the gang to make sure that
the USA and Russia get to the final match
In
Ready to Scare, the gang goes to Paris to see Daphne's
cousin become model of the year. But they find she's been
abducted by a giant gargoyle.
In
A Scooby-Doo Valentine, Scooby and the gang are excited
to return to Coolsville for Valentines Day until they learn
about teenagers being kidnapped at the Lovers Lane and they
are the prime suspects. And while investigating, Shaggy discovers
his ex-girlfriend is dating JC Chasez.
This
collection of episodes gives us another healthy slice of action
with Scooby and the gang. Each of the four episodes is 20
minutes in length, and bringing the characters into the 21st
century helps to keep the series alive. While their costumes
remain relatively the same, the gang now use the latest technology
to help them solve the crimes - although these four episodes
seemed to lack the usual gadgets that have been seen in the
majority of What's New episodes - I didn't even spot
a mobile phone.
This
volume was a first for me too. I actually worked out who the
ghost was before the end in Wrestle Maniacs. And I
feel quite proud of myself too. Bit sad for a man in his 30's,
but still...
There
are no extras, but to be quite honest who needs any when you
have one hour and twenty minutes of fun mysteries for £13?
