Ang and Ling are brother and sister martial artists each with
a different destiny. Ang is drawn to the powers of light whilst
his sister is drawn to darkness. Together they discover the
secret Temple of the Dragon which holds the souls of ancient
warriors who defend the balance in the universe. When Ang
is chosen to inherit the power of the golden dragon, Ling
fights back trying to take the power for herself...
                  The
show, which is set in modern day Hong Kong, was created by
Rick Ungar who had previously created Biker Mice from Mars.
The first season ran for thirteen episodes (all of which are
released in this volume) and is presented in its original
                    4:3 aspect ratio.
                  I
guess when the phrase, "for completists only" pops into your
head, what your really thinking is "What a piece of old poo".
The show is strictly Saturday morning children's filler and
in no way is comparable in quality to a Japanese Anime show.
The animation is crude, reminiscent of a show from the seventies,
even the graphics on the PS2 game which is based on the show
far outshine this effort. You get the feeling that the creators
were going for quick and cheap rather than depth and quality.
The DVD we received for review contained the first four, twenty-two
                    minute episodes.
                  In
the first episode, Trial by Fire - Part One, the siblings
discover the Temple of the Golden Dragon. This sets up the
excuse for a bit of rivalry between them and a bit of kick-arse
action when one of Master Chins ex-pupils, in the form of
the Zodiac Master, turns up to claim the power for himself.

                  In
part two of Trail by Fire Ang and Ling are in conflict
as to who has the right to wield the power of the dragon.
Ling is not a happy bunny and follows her path to the dark
side. An offer of power from the evil Zodiac Master seduces
Ling away from the path of light.

Episode three and Ling is now bad to the core having fully
thrown in with Zodiac. Ang is still trying to come to terms
with his sister's choices, hoping that there is still time
to bring his sister back to the right path. Of course she
has no intention of doing any such thing and is helping Zodiac
                    take over other temples.
                  In
Hero Worship Zodiac discovers that Ang is really impressed
with the actor Wang Lee, an admiration which he intends to
                    turn to his own advantage.

It's hard to say what the finished product will look like
as the review copy was obviously burned onto a blank disc,
so the menus were minimalist to say the least. The disc contained
no extras and sound was an adequate stereo. A show for the
less discerning child. Also, only having four episodes of
the 13 that will be included in the finished release means
that we only really got a taste of this collection.
