The Titans have escaped from their eternal prison to wreak
havoc on the world. In this titanic struggle between old and
new gods it is the heroes of humankind who will ultimately
determine the fate of all existence. Journey throughout the
ancient world in a race to uncover the secrets needed to once
again imprison these ancient gods...
Titan
Quest allows the player to journey to fabled locations
such as the Parthenon, the maze at Knossos, the Great Pyramids,
and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Here you have to overcome
a number of terrifying monsters and mythical beasts. A flexible
class system allows almost limitless ways for the player to
develop their character. Skills can be customised in many
ways, and never become obsolete.
You
start the game as a novice warrior (you can choose to be either
male or female) from a small farming village in Greece. Here
you must train your character up in order for them to be able
to eventually confront the Titan gods who have escaped and
are all set to seek revenge on the world. Once you've chosen
your skills you can venture across the globe in your quest
to ensure good triumphs over evil.
The
most impressive aspect of this game is how huge it is. While
there are obvious paths to follow to complete your quest,
you are actively encouraged to wander off and explore the
game in your own way. And don't think that by doing this you'll
simply be spending hours attacking monster after monster that
looks identical to the last one you slaughtered, because
these change depending on your surroundings.
And,
while the single player game is engaging enough, players can
drop in on numerous online games where they can team up with
other gamers to go on various quests. And
should you at any time crave a little extra, then this game
also allows you to design your own environments and quests
- which is a great addition for all those that like spending
hours creating their own virtual environments.
If
you're looking for a great hack and slash RPG, then you could
do a lot worse than
Titan
Quest.
