With the latest addition to the Stronghold series players will see an additional range of innovations added to the brand, including twice as many units as previous Stronghold titles, three castle styles, three landscapes to fight across and the addition of spectacular magic and fearsome monsters to overcome, as well as a completely new strategic conquest style of play and a range of new multiplayer modes...

Stronghold: Legends is a real time strategy (RTS) game that builds on the Stronghold heritage, set within the epic legends of the middle ages. This chapter includes a new strategic conquest style of play as well as new multiplayer modes. Gamers can play as King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, Count Vlad Dracul or relive the heroic sagas of the mighty Siegfried of Germany in twenty-four missions that span across three unique campaigns.

If you've engaged in any of the previous Stronghold RTS games, then Legends will seem like fairly familiar territory to you. You'll need to build a strong army if you have any hopes of beating the enemy. Here you can employ pikemen and archers along with a host of monsters including giants, dragons and dwarves.

Sadly though the designers have focussed more on the actually fighting instead of offering a mix of building design and other strategy elements. And, on top of that, some of the creatures you can employ in your army don't actually have the desired effect. For example dragons can easily be shot out of the sky by a few archers.

In all honestly, this game will only really be of interest to fans of the genre who want to keep up with the latest release in the franchise. Other gamers should try before they buy.
