Brainiac and his villain cronies have developed a master plan
to conquer the world and eliminate the Justice League forever.
Using the extraordinary super powers and expert fighting techniques
of Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Wonder Woman
and other favourite DC Comics super heroes, players must join
the Justice League to ultimately save humanity from Brainiac's
destruction and the even darker forces that are lurking in
the universe...
Justice
League Heroes, is an action game featuring the characters
from the DC Comics universe that make up the Justice League
of America. You can either play alone (swapping between the
two on-screen characters, or as a two-player game where each
player takes control of one of the characters. The first level
sees you play as arguably everyone's two favourite super heroes
- Batman and Superman - as you battle your way through the
levels destroying rogue robots. Other levels allow you to
play as Wonder
Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Zatanna and Martian Manhunter,
as well as other unlockable characters.
Playing
solo is fine and dandy, however the computer AI is notably
not up to scratch on occasions. When you take control of one
character, the computer controls the other. While, on the
whole, it does an admiral job, you may notice that the characters
occasionally get stuck in corners, or behind objects which
is a little annoying. Of course, playing the two player matches
does away with that particular bug (unless you're playing
with an old timer with two left thumbs).
As
you progress through the levels you learn new combination
powers as well as being given the opportunity to upgrade specialised
boosts for your superpowers. The game is played from the third
person perspective and as you bash your way through your enemies
they drop boost and experience orbs that help you power up
your character.
The
graphics of the main characters and environments is pretty
impressive and it's a joy to discover that you can pick up
most objects in your immediate surroundings - including vehicles,
trees etc. In fact, there's something incredibly amusing (he
said showing his immature side) about using Superman to pick
up a giant tree and then using it to knock your enemy for
six.
The
voice characteristics of the main heroes are pretty impressive
(with the notable exception of Superman who just doesn't sound
right) and there's even the odd gag thrown in for good measure.
All
in all, this is a pretty impressive game, although it can
get a little repetitive a little too quickly. DC Comics fans
won't be disappointed though. On balance this is a pretty
good offering.
