The
Day the Animals Lost Their Voices is worth the £5
retail price alone - just to hear Aldred's vocal range. If
you don't laugh yourself unconscious then you really have
no sense of humour. In fact there are quite a few tracks where
Aldred puts on her deepest voice or squeaky mouse voice. And
5 Little Monkeys sees Mitchley doing his best Rowan
Atkinson impression.
Maybe
I'm going through a mid-life crisis or something, but I found
myself tapping my feet and singing along with most of the
songs on this collection, and generally enjoying the easy
flowing narrative that linked all the songs together.
It's
good to see the BBC spending a lot of time and effort putting
out a great CD that both the very young and very old will
thoroughly enjoy. And the fact that the retail price is only
£5 should be all the excuse you need to buy it.
