The Sheriff of Nottingham is determined to punish Robin
for his defiance of authority. He holds the villagers of Locksley
hostage, threatening to cut out a villager's tongue every
hour until Robin is found. Robin has no choice but to give
himself up to protect them. But with his gang of outlaws on
his side, all is not lost...
Sheriff
Got Your Tongue? is a 2-disc CD collection, which sees
Kay Woodward adapting Dominic Minghella's original script
from the TV series into an audio book.
After
the events that unfolded in Will
You Tolerate This?,
this second release sees Robin forming his band of men as
he hides out in Sherwood Forest. But avoiding the Sheriff
is not an easy task. The Sheriff wants to make an example
of Robin and has threatened to cut out the tongue of one member
of Locksley every hour until Robin gives himself up.
This
story explains how Robin managed to gain his famous nickname,
Robin Hood. It also explains how and why he started robbing
from the rich to give something back to the residents of Locksley.
There's
also a nice touch as Little John bumps into his son, but can't
explain who he is as he doesn't want his wife or son getting
messed up in his world now that he's an outlaw. However, when
he realises that his wife still loves him, he decides that
he will soon reveal to them that he is not dead, as they believe.
This
audio book is read by Richard Armitage, who plays Guy of Gisborne
in the BBC's Robin Hood series. This release also includes
an extra in the form of another bonus interview with Richard
Armitage, giving an exclusive behind-the-scenes account of
filming for the BBC show. I was expecting this to be a repeat
of the interview on Episode 1, but I was pleasantly
surprised to discover that this was a totally new interview,
lasting just under five minutes.
Armitage's
reading is fairly engaging and this audio book has been well
adapted from the original. While it seems a little on the
stretched side, there is enough action and adventure here
to keep you listening. And, unlike the first episode, this
captures the imagination a lot more.
