Courtney Whitmore is just your typical teenage girl trying to make it through high school - but she's about to stumble upon a secret that will make her life a lot more complicated. Her new stepfather, Pat Dugan, was once Stripesy - sidekick of the Golden Age hero The Star-Spangled Kid. Finding the Kid's old costume, Courtney modifies it for herself and becomes the new Star-Spangled Kid - aiming to fight crime and annoy her father. But Dugan isn't about to let his new daughter get in any danger. Putting his mechanical skills to work, he creates a robotic suit called S.T.R.I.P.E. - and joins his daughter's battle for justice. Now, the duo fight side-by-side - often bickering, but never forgetting to watch each others' backs as they take on aliens, cults, new villains, and more...

Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. Volume One is an all-new collection that focusses on Courtney Whitmore, who unexpectedly becomes the new Star-Spangled Kid. This collection takes us from her origins as she discovers her stepfather's secret - that he used to be Stripesy, one half of a superhero double act.

Annoyed that his secret has been discovered, and that Courtney has customised his old partner's costume and belt, he retaliates by donning an 8-foot suit of armour to keep her out of trouble. But keeping tabs on Courtney is not as simple as Stripesy thought it would be - in fact tackling alien invaders is much easier... or so he thought.

This graphic novel collects together issues #1-8 of the DC Comics series. There's an equal balance of humour and action to ensure that this release appeals to a wide audience. This volume also examines Courtney's school life, showing how a teenage superhero manages to balance the fight against crime while keeping on top of her studies - not as dull as it sounds.

This is one new collection worth taking a look at.
