Low on fuel, the Galactica encounters the Battlestar
Pegasus. While Commander Adama believes the search for
fuel is paramount, the commander of the Pegasus, Cain,
wants only one thing... to attack the Cylons...!
Oh
dear. Mission Galactica is a combination of two TV
stories - The Living Legend and Fire in Space
- and a rather poor combination at that. Chopping up episodes
to try and make a feature length story has been done before
with other shows, and usually to limited effect. Mission
Galactica is no different.
In
trying to push together two entirely different stories so
that they appear as one, dialogue and scenes are cut or re-edited,
resulting in confusion and hanging plot threads. Considering
that The Living Legend
was a two part story anyway, and a half-decent one at that,
it surely would have made sense to simply use it and nothing
else for a feature length story.
Fire
in Space is a poor episode, what with borrowing effects
material from The Towering Inferno and suffering from
a very weak plot. Its obvious that the intent behind
its inclusion is to add to the drama of the action taking
place in The Living Legend, but really, it doesnt
help at all.
For
fans of the original Battlestar Galactica this will
be a disappointment, so this really is for collectors only.
