You've taken Azeroth by storm. Now a dark frontier awaits.
Beyond the Dark Portal, the sinister agents of the Burning
Legion have renewed their demonic crusade to consume the magic
of the universe and lay waste to all in their path. From the
black horrors of Hellfire Citadel, to the opening of the Dark
Portal itself - an infinity of new experiences await...
World
of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is so much more than
just another run-of-the-mill expansion pack - it almost feels
like a new game. The first think you'll notice is the fact
that you can either start your game again, from scratch, and
experience the world afresh from a totally new perspective,
or you can take the characters you've already built and grown
attached too, and push their story lines even further.
Having
said that, a word of warning if you don't already own the
main game. I know this might be obvious, but you'll need to
purcahse that before you can play this expansion pack. And
if you didn't already know, World of Warcraft involves
a monthly subscription if you want to play the full game online
as intended.
The
first problem with this is that when you purchase games like
this the fact that you then have to pay out again each month
can seem like daylight robbery - especially if you plan on
playing for a year or so. Then there is the fact that the
online element may be totally naff. You never know whether
the whole thing will be a flop, with the result being you,
and a guy from Romania, are the only players that are ever
signed in. And
what if the publisher decides to pull the online player option
in a year? Won't you be left with a pretty pointless game?
Thankfully,
this being an expansion pack, you already know that the main
game is obviously going strong - a publisher is hardly likely
to sink more money into a dead product.
This
pack allows you to
continue to explore Azeroth and the regions beyond. There
are new races to play, new lands to explore and additional
levels of power for an existing player's already established
characters. In fact the game's level cap has been raised to
70. There are new lands and battlegrounds to get your teeth
into as well as airborne mounts allowing you to travel safely
over dangerous regions. There
are also a host of new quests, enemies and challenges.
I
did have a slight problem with some of the new areas, which
are only accessible by boat. This made them feel like a tacked
on addition to the game rather than an integral part.
On
balance fans of the original game will love the additional
rich content. This expansion pack adds even more quality content
to an already massive game.
