Lead two battle-hardened armies across the war-torn landscape
of WWII Europe in relentless campaigns for honour and country.
Take charge of the tenacious British 2nd Army during the heroic
liberation of Caen - or command the German Panzer Elite as
they struggle to repel Operation Market Garden: the largest
airborne invasion of history...
Company
of Heroes: Opposing Fronts is the next chapter in the
critically acclaimed Company of Heroes franchise. Players
take command of the German Panzer Elite as they struggle against
the might of the Allied forces, or lead the British 2nd Army
in the vicious battle for Caen, France.
When
the original Company
of Heroes was released in 2006 it totally won
this reviewer over. In a marketplace stuffed to bursting with
WWII strategy games Company of Heroes carved a refreshing
niche for itself.
This
game is a standalone title that thankfully doesn't require
the original in order to play it (although most serious gamers
will already own the first instalment). However, this title
is fully compatible with the original game, which means that
if you have both you will be able to wage war with four unique
armies.
Those
that are worried that this is the same game with updated graphics
will soon realise that much has been added to the game play
- a lot of which are elements that are taken from the franchise's
sister release Warhammer
40,000: Dawn of War. The British troops excel
in commando style tactics - flying behind enemy lines to help
gain an advantage; while the The Panzer Elite make the best
use of armoured vehicles, as well as being equipped with flame-throwers
and incendiary grenades.
If
you enjoyed the first game, then this is an essential purchase.
