With less than a week to go before the homunculus ledged in Tokiko's waist reaches her brain, Kazuki and Tokiko search for the creator of the dreaded homunculi. But little do they know that the evil genius behind the human flesh-eating monsters is an eccentric, terminally ill student at Kazuki's school...

From award winning author and artist Nobuhiro Watsuki (creator of Rurouni Kenshin) comes Buso Renkin, the story of a young high school student who finds himself smack bang in the middle of a conflict between two factions of strange and incredible beings.

High school student Kazuki Muto had no clue what he was in for when he rescued damsel in distress Tokiko for a monster known as a "homunculus." Disguised as humans - who actually eat humans - homunculi are malevolent creatures that affix themselves to people's brains, and once fully grown, the only thing that can annihilate them is a weapon called Buso Renkin.

Volume 2 of Buso Renkin picks up the story where Volume 1 left off. Kazuli and Tokiko have to race against the clock if they are to save Tokiko's life from the homunculi that is living inside her. If the two can track down the monsters creator they might, just might, be in with a slim chance of ensuring that Tokiko doesn't become a monster herself.

As with the last volume, there are plenty of interesting extras dotted in amongst the pages. Again, the author uses these segments to explain what he was trying to achieve with each episode, where his inspiration for characters came from, how each episode was received by the public, and his thoughts on the writing and drawing process.

Another entertaining volume in the Buso Renkin saga.
