Excitement and danger follow archeologist Dr. Henry Jones Jr. around the globe as he tries to keep the most powerful objects in the world from falling into the wrong hands. From the South Pacific to the seas of the Vikings, his race against the Nazis to recover artefacts like the Golden Fleece, the Philosopher's Stone and the Spear of Destiny will run him afoul of legendary monsters, ancient cults, and armies of the undead...

Volume Two in the Indiana Jones Omnibus series is an improvement on Volume 1. Collecting Indiana Jones and the Golden Fleece issues #1 and 2, Indiana Jones and the Shrine of the Sea Devil, Indiana Jones and the Iron Phoenix #1-4, Indiana Jones and the Spear of Destiny #1-4 and Indiana Jones and the Sargasso Pirates #1-4, this collection offers adventures more in the vein of the original trilogy of movies.

As I mentioned in my review of Volume 1, as a teenager I collected the Marvel Indiana Jones comic series that was released in the '80s. And, as great as it was to have more Indiana Jones adventures, the art and storylines never quite met my expectations. By the time this Dark Horse series was released in the early '90s I had already grown out of wanting to read comic book tales based on the adventures of Indiana Jones, and as a consequence I never read them.

While the majority of the tales collected here have solid story lines, the artwork ranges from below average to good. And, out of all of the tales here, I found that Indiana Jones and the Sargasso Pirates had the best dialogue - you could almost hear Harrison Ford delivering them - and actually had some jokes that, while corny, worked quite well.

While this collection might not be up there with the greatest comic book series of all time, at least it's a million times better than the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull graphic novel.

If you remember this series from its original release, or are after an injection of original Indy tales, then you could do worse than pick up this collection.
