Jack Knight is a rabid collector - operating an antiques and collectibles store in the heart of Opal City. Despite being the son of Ted Knight, the Golden Age hero known as Starman, Jack is nothing like him. Rebellious, stubborn and disdainful of Ted's past, Jack is certainly no hero. That is, until a terrible tragedy strikes... Reluctantly adopting his father's former mantle, Jack forges a path as the latest inheritor of the Starman legacy. But now all of Ted's enemies are determined to snuff out this newest star before Jack has a chance to truly shine. Can Jack overcome incredible odds to prove that he has what it takes to be a hero...?

Volume 1 of The Starman Omnibus collects Starman issues #0 to 16 of the Starman comic book series. Originally published from 1994 to 1996 the story follows Jack Knight, son of the original Golden Age Starman from the 1940s, as he takes on the mantle reluctantly.

Since the 1940s, Opal City has been protected by Starman, a man with the power of flight and the ability to direct cosmic energy using the awesome power of the Gravity Rod. But the current Starman, Ted Knight, is too old for the job... and when Ted's chosen successor and eldest son David is murdered only days after taking up the Starman mantle, Jack Knight, Ted's antique-dealing younger son, must reluctantly accept the job.

Join Ted as he prepares to protect Opal City. Along the way he battles with the memory of his brother, who he never got along with; frees the main attractions from a travelling circus; discovers that his father's past is not blood free; and has to contend with a female villain who believes that her relation ship with Starman is similar to Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn in Bringing up Baby.

Whether you read the stories collected here in the '90s, or have never even read a Starman tale before, this is one deluxe collection you'll want to add to your comics collection. An intense read from page one.
