The fairy tale romance of Paige, a down-to-earth medical student from a farm in Wisconsin and Edvard, the newly crowned King of Denmark continues. Madly in love, but from such different worlds they manage to be together despite every obstacle and are preparing for their upcoming wedding. But certain troublesome people have their eye on the happy couple. A medieval law is discovered that stops the reigning king from marrying a "commoner" if any other suitable (i.e. Royal) female can be found. Much to Paige's horror the only girl who meets this requirement is Princess Kristen an old childhood friend of Edvard's. With both their relationship and the monarchy in jeopardy, will a loophole be found in time that will allow this modern romance to have a fairy tale ending...? The Prince & Me 2: The Royal Wedding is the 2006 follow up to 2004's The Prince and Me. This movie doesn't do itself any favours in the respect that it pretty much assumes you've seen the first film. While it's not overly difficult to work out what's happened in the first film if you haven't seen it, some sort of explanation would have been helpful. While normally I'd applaud the fact that a movie doesn't treat it's viewers like kids, this is a young girls film, and so many of them might not have a clue what's going on. There's nothing new, novel or different about this film that we haven't seen in any one of a hundred similar films. It's cliched, low-brow humour that never pretends to be anything other than it is. Notable appearances are made by Jonathan Firth as Soren and Maryam d'Abo (The Living Daylights) as Queen Rosalind. But Clemency Burton-Hill, playing Princess Kirsten, steals the limelight with the one truly rounded character in the whole film. As far as extras are concerned... your guess is as good as mine. The review disc we received wasn't a fully mastered copy of the film and was simply the movie burned onto a DVD-R disc. There might be extras on the finished DVD. At the end of the day this is a movie that won't really appeal to anyone other than young girls up to the age of 14. With that in mind... this is a sloppy, romantic, and very cliched movie that does exactly as you'd expect. 4 Darren Rea Buy this item online |
