Welcome to West Lahunga Beach, the gayest of gay ghettoes, where Rick and Steve make their fabulously decorated double-income-no-kids home. That is until Rick's lifelong lesbian friend Kristen asks him to be the father of her child. There's just one catch - Kristen's wife Dana and Rick's husband Steve. The insults fly and nothing goes unspoken. Who knew the ugly, bitter truth of domestic bliss could look so cute...? Rick and Steve the Happiest Gay Couple in all the World is an animated TV series that uses specially designed characters that will remind viewers of the toy building block people from their childhood. The show introduces us to to the residents of West Lahunga Beach, a predominately gay community. Rick Brocka, Jr. and Steve Ball are the two main characters and over the course of these six episodes we are introduced to their friends. The episodes cover subjects including lesbian couple Kirsten Kellogg and Dana Bernstein asking Steve to help them have a baby; Kirsten and Dana babysitting a friend's baby in order to see if they will make good parents; Chuck Masters having to tackle Evan Martinez's drug addiction; fag hag Condi Ling attempting suicide after her 17th boyfriend turns out to be gay; the couples going on a cruise; and Steve accidentally joining up to the homophobic group the K K Gay. Extras include Crafting Rick and Steve (4 min, 36 sec look at how the models are made); and Toys Will be Toys: Animating Rick and Steve (3 min, 56 sec look at the animators). There are also interviews with voice actors Peter Paige (3 min, 41 sec - who plays Steve); William Cruz (4 min, 30 sec - the voice of Evan); Alan Cumming (5 min, 05 sec - who plays Chuck); and Margaret Cho (4 min, 01 sec - the voice of Condi). There are also 11 x 2min shorts called Digisodes which are pretty funny. I couldn't help noticing how similar to the Peanuts gang some of the characters looked. I'm not sure if this was intentional. An entertaining, and very funny, show that picks up the ball and runs with it where South Park left off. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
