For fans of puzzle games Colour Cross offers something a little different. The goal is to uncover the hidden picture by applying the right colour to the appropriate square. Using the familiar paint by numbers mechanic, completing a grid will reveal a portion of a larger hidden image as well as unlocking increasingly difficult challenges. With over 150 individual grids to unlock, Colour Cross provides hours of brain-teasing game play...

Colour Cross is an entertaining offering for the puzzle game market. In total there are 150 challenges across ten themes. The idea is simple, fill in each square on a grid in a set colour to reveal a hidden pattern or picture. To help you, for each line, you are told how many of a certain colour are in that line. Simply start by filling in the lines you know for certain (for example in a 5x5 grid if a line for the colour brown shows "5" you know that all of the blocks in that line are brown) and then as you eliminate certain colours the choice becomes simpler for the blocks that are left.

Not only do the grids show you how many blocks of a certain colour are in each line, but they also tell you how many of each colour are joined together. So, for example on a 5 line puzzle if a line of red states "2, 2" then you know that the first two and last two blocks will be red.

While this game is both fun and challenging, the biggest problem is that it's just too fiddly on the DS. More often than not you'll accidentally hit the wrong block with the stylus, which counts as a wrong move. While you can zoom in to stop this problem, it's still a bit of a nightmare.

When you get into it, Colour Cross is a lot of fun - but it's not really suited to such a small screen.
