Although more recently Jamie Hince has filled column inches for his relationship with Kate Moss, he does in fact have a day job as one half of the duo, The Kills - his partner in music, Alison Mosshart, apparently has no plans to date Kate. The Kills have been around for some time now and their new CD single 'Tape Song' comes from their third, critically acclaimed, album Midnight Boom. 'Tape Song' combines Mosshart’s lilting vocals with Hince’s choppy guitar to create a lament, with a rousing chorus. Their minimalist approach to music works well on the track allowing Mosshart a full emotional range without being drowned out by the backing track, that said, Hince’s choppy guitar perfectly compliments Mosshart's distressed vocals. 'London Hates You' has a more retro feel, which is emphasised by the opening bars, which are more than a little reminiscent of 'Be My Baby' by the Ronettes. It is a song which shows the bands softer underbelly. The band is playing around the UK this November (2008), so if you get a chance you should try and catch them playing live. 7 Charles Packer |
