The Stone Age
was a time when headaches were cured by drilling holes in
your skull, and when fast food meant tearing open the stomach
of an animal and pinching that animal's last meal - straight
from its guts! But don't entertain the idea that these primitive
people were savages. Some of them loved their grannies so
much they let them stay with the family - even after they
were dead. And how do we know that the stone-agers ate for
tea? Easy! They left us piles of poo, for scientists to examine...
Terry
Deary's Horrible Histories series is one that will
appeal to parents, as well as children. The idea is simple:
make learning fun. And it works. This volume looks at the
Stone Age way of life, as well as examining the many theories
of how Stonehenge was created (wizards, giants and aliens
have all been given credit in one crazy theory or another).
Adapted
from Deary's series of books, this release plays like a comedy
sketch show - but one with a mission to educate as well as
entertain. It also contains exclusive content that was not
originally available in the book.
This
series stars Toby Longworth, who Judge Dredd fans will
know as the voice of the chief lawman himself in Big Finish's
audio series. Also of not is the fact that Dirk
Maggs directs this series.
This
episode, as others, concludes on a positive note by showing
that maybe, just maybe, the Stone Age was not as savage as
we may have at first thought.
Certainly
worth buying if you want to help educate a curious young mind
- or learn something about history yourself.
