Perrier Award nominee Ross Noble takes his show worldwide
- to destinations as diverse as Australia, Italy, Egypt and
Belgium - by day and entertaining the locals with his microphone
by night. In the first episode, Ross travels to Brussels...
a city with a reputation a little on the dull side. But he
soon finds out that with chocolate on every corner, a puzzling
statue of an incontinent child, and the honour of being associated
with the always-exciting Jean-Claude Van Damme, Brussels might
be his kind of city after all... Half stand-up routines, half
cultural observations, these shows are both a tempting taster
of the cities he visits and a perfect opportunity to spend
some time in the wacky, whimsical, fantastically funny world
of Ross Noble...
Series
2 of
Ross Noble Goes Global is
extremely entertaining. Each 30 minute episode takes in a
different destination where Noble leads us on a guided tour
of some of the sights. While walking the streets of each venue,
he gathers material for his shows in the evenings. The result
is a hilarious look at what it's like to be a stranger in
a foreign land.
Amongst
his observations Noble ponders on the role of tapestries,
lace and the waffle in Brussels culture and starts to think
up his own bizarre EU directives - well, since some mystery
man in Brussels always seems to be behind the real directives,
why shouldn't Noble have a stab at it as well?; in
Adelaide he discovers that rooting means something very different
to Australians. So when asking a women: "Are you rooting
in your bag?" his audience find it hysterical; in Egypt
Noble starts to get annoyed with the amount of tacky tourist
gift shops, and meets a shop opener who has got the cockney
accent spot on... well, maybe not; and in Milan he discovers
why you should never talk to an Italian man and ponders why
total strangers keep approaching him and offering him handfuls
of grain.
If
you are looking for stand up comedy with a little something
extra, then this release will not disappoint. Informative,
well produced and very funny.
