A series of biological terrorist attacks across the Alpha Quadrant threaten first the crew of the USS Enterprise-D, and then a group of renegade Maquis led by a former Starfleet officer Chakotay. Following this a Romulan royal family is targeted by the unseen enemy, just as Vulcan ambassador Spock is attempting to broker a truce with the empire. Meanwhile, a strike on the Cardassian space station
Terok Nor forces station commander Gul Dukat into a fragile alliance with Federation doctor Katherine Pulaski and Bajoran spy Kira Nerys...

Set in the Next Generation universe and blending elements of four different Star Trek series into one narrative, Double Helix Omnibus is a collection of the original six-part saga under one cover. All your old favourite characters are here including Deanna Troi, Katherine Pulaski, an ageing Dr. McCoy and Spock, Tom Riker and Jean-Luc Picard.

This is the sort of novel that will keep you entertained for weeks - it did me anyway. Sticking all of your favourite characters into one novel is sheer genius and it works so well too. The original books (Infection, Vectors, Red Sector, Quarantine, Double or Nothing and The First Virtue) work well as a collection.

Infection sees Deanna Troi's life endangered by a mysterious plague; Vectors is set on the Cardassian space station known as Terok Nor where Dr. Pulaski is struggling to heal the planet Bajor; Red Sector sees an elderly Dr. McCoy reunited with Ambassador Spock in order to save the Romulan royal family; Quarantine sees lieutenant Thomas Riker joining forces with the Maquis in order to rescue a world in peril; Double or Nothing follows Jean-Luc Picard and the captain of the Starship Excalibur as they track the deadly contagion to its source; and finally The First Virtue is set years before Picard takes command of the Enterprise in a time when he must prevent a war that could unravel the universe.

A riveting read from start to finish that will only be dismissed by those who don't enjoy a damn fine read. At £12.99 for 1112 pages you certainly get your moneys worth - an absolute gem of a book.

If you are a true Star Trek fan they you will want to add this to your collection.
