It
is the 22 century and the dawn of mankind's boldest adventure.
Thanks to an amazing new breakthrough in warp technology,
finally an era of true interstellar exploration is about to
begin. Captain Jonathan Archer has been chosen to command
the groundbreaking starship Enterprise NX-01. But before the
ship can leave orbit a Klingon is attacked and almost killed
by mysterious aliens. Enterprise's first mission changes and
it's crew set out to take the Klingon home alive...
Broken
Bow is
released in paperback as season two of
Enterprise comes
to an end. Which is a shame, because this book would have
faired better if it had been released a little earlier.
As
you can imagine, the book follows closely the opening episode
of season one with a few little extra bits of information
thrown in for background reference, but the main TV episode
is present and correct.
I
have never understood the need to issue novelisations of episodes,
but this book was engaging enough to keep me interested from
the start.
But
what makes this collection interesting is that there is a
behind the scenes section (almost 40 pages in length) written
by Paul Ruditis which takes a look at the concept and design
of the series.
Also
worthy of mention is the fact that the cover has a rather
nice embossed Starfleet badge printed on it.
I
worthy addition to the Star Trek range, just a shame
it was so long in arriving.
