Captain
Klag of the I.K.S. Gorkon - the newest inductee into the Order
of the Bat'leth - has given his word to the Children of the
San-Tarah that the Klingon Empire will leave them in peace.
But Klag's old rival General Talak has ordered him to go back
on his word and aid Talak in conquering the San-Tarah's world.
Now Klag must stand against his fellow Klingons - but will
even his fellow members of the Order, not to mention his own
crew, follow him into disobedience? Or will they betray him
to Talak?...
Honor
Bound is
the second in the I.K.S.
Gorkon series
of books based on the flagship vessel, and it's crew, of the
Klingon Empire.
Being
a new series Keith R.A. DeCandido has been given an almost
free reign to create his own world, experimenting with characters
and ideas to see how they play out. And to his credit he has
managed to write a novel that is fresh and exciting and is
sure to appeal to Klingon fans out there.
I
loved the Klingon dilemma here. How can Klag go back on his
word if he is to remain honourable? And how can he convince
his officers that they should follow him in his disobedience.
In the wrong hands, this could have be a messy affair. But,
in the hands of DeCandido the story twists and turns and forces
the reader roll with the punches.
There
is also a glossary of Klingon terms at the back of the book
- which is interesting and amusing.
An
excellent addition to the Star Trek range. Hopefully
this will not be the end of the crew of the I.K.S. Gorkon.
