From
the first vampire stacking to the last glimpse of Sunnydale,
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a genre-busting hit, attracting
millions of fans worldwide. The last three seasons ran the
gamut from an episode without music to a musical episode,
from the arrival of a teenage sister to the death of Buffy
(again).
Now
the third volume in this best-selling series of companions
breaks down every episode of seasons five, six and seven -
from the villains and the victims to quotables and love bytes
- it also takes a wide-ranging look back at the entire run
of the show.
This
series of Watcher Guides are like bibles to Buffy
fans - a must have for every collection. The detail in each
of them has been amazing - but I have to say that volume 3
is the best of the bunch - mainly because they include critical
essays from a variety of people in Buffy related topics
including The Journey of Jonathan Levenson, Slaying the
Big Lies, Monsters Made to Order and Restless.
There's
also a section dedicated to the Trio's Pop Culture explosion
- mastering the references of geek speak, as well as the expected
episode run down which contains a detailed episode description,
relationship issues, pop culture IQ, continuity info and 'dramatis
personae'. On top of all that there are a few little extras,
depending on the episodes - for example it gives away one
of the alternate endings for The Gift.
A
really great read, it'll be a loved addition to any Buffy
fans home, and will fill them with so much extra info on the
show that they devotedly watched for seven seasons.
