Buffy the Vampire Slayer, protector of Sunnydale (and the world!) is dead; killed saving her sister Dawn from the mad, evil god, Glory. Her friends are trying to get on with their lives, but things aren't looking too good for Willow, Xander, and the gang; between them, there's enough anger, frustration, loss, guilt, and tragedy to resurrect an ancient demon... and its food is the grief of Buffy's nearest and dearest.
If that's not bad enough, a horde of demonic reptilian sorcerers plan to resurrect their fallen comrade and paint the town blood red. Can Buffy's friends face the threat without a Slayer to defend them? Willow finds that she can learn a great deal from these reptilian mystics. And if there's going to be one resurrection, why can't there be Two?...

The Death of Buffy is one of the darkest comics to come from the Buffy-verse to date, dealing with all the anger, frustration and fear as the scoobies try and keep it together after Buffy sacrifices her life so that they may all live.

Dawn continues to be her normal annoying self - thank god series seven is set to change her angst-ridden portrayal, but you see Willow becoming stronger, in many senses, Giles continuing to be the protector, Xander boiling over with anger and confusion and Spike a shell of himself after the Slayer's death.

Even with all their grief in tow, this doesn't mean the bad guys go on a holiday. The guys have much more to handle than ever before, so how will they get through it all, and will they be better off afterwards.?
