When Hellboy, Liz Sherman and Roger the Homunculus set out
to investigate an abandoned German castle they have no idea
of the horrors that await them. With a fail-safe bomb planted
in Roger's chest and a mysterious, perhaps treacherous guide,
it seems that the horrors of real life outweigh whatever they
                    might find...
                  Think
                    you know weird? Well Conqueror
                    Worm unleashes
some pretty warped creations. Dead Nazis, a living brain in
a jar, Rasputin, Baba Yaga and the mysterious assassin known
as the Lobster - can you think of a more bizarre collection
                    of foes? Looks
like the twisted creative mind that is Mignola has come up
                    trumps again.
                  This
time around Hellboy's paranoia is put to the test. If his
superiors have planted a fail-safe bomb on Roger to stop him
if he should get out of hand, then who knows what they have
                    planted on Hellboy?
                  There
are a few legend/mythology references - which is what the
earlier Hellboy short stories were all about - but
for the most part this graphic novel concentrates more on
the relationship between Hellboy, his partners and his superiors.
And to be honest this seems to work much better than the earlier
                    works.
                  If
you want something fresh in your comic collection then Conqueror
                    Worm
is worth looking at. Mignola is a genius and each Titan Graphic
novel just seems to get better.
