Murdered by an unknown assailant, John Travis finds himself
in Inferno, a Hell not of fiery demons and satanic majesty,
but an endless city seething with corruption, intrigue and
despair. Yet death is the least of his problems. Travis is
accused of being Jacomo Terence, who died 800 years ago and
was the first man to escape Hell to live his life again...
                  Ummm
sound familiar? Methinks the critically acclaimed movie Angel
Heart may have had a large part to play in the birth of
Inferno. Not only that, but there are elements of the
far superior Hellboy in this collection too.
                  But
where this really fails is in the writing. I don't want to
rub any students up the wrong way, but this reads like a cobbled
together English student's project. In all honesty, it is
one of the most pretentious pieces of work I've ever read.
                  The
artwork again brings to mind Hellboy, only a lot less
slicker. Oh, and I know... To prove we are really arty, let's
release this in black and white! It looks and reads like a
first attempt, and that is a shame because this could have
been a good read. Instead it is just dull.
                  Where
is the characterisation, the intriguing twists, er... the
plot? Not original, not thought provoking, not good!
