                    Meet
Superman, a strange visitor from another world who can change
the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands
and who, as the champion of the common worker, fights a never-ending
battle for Stalin, Socialism and the international expansion
                    of the Warsaw Pact...
                  Red
                    Son takes
an alternative slant on the Superman story. What if
his spacecraft had ploughed into a field in Russia, instead
of Smallville, America? What would happen to the other people
in Superman's life? Would Lex, Louis or Jimmy still play a
                    part in his world?
                  This
graphic novel could have been a real stinker. Left in the
wrong hands, it could so easily have all gone horribly wrong.
But thankfully Mark Millar weaves an interesting narrative
with sprinklings of other famous superheroes. There is a Russian
Batman, who won't be content until Superman is pulled down
from his ivory tower, as well as Wonder Woman and The Green
                    Lantern.
                  This
collection looks the business as well. The artwork is above
average and helps to set the scene.
                  This
is a must buy collection for any serious Superman fan.
And the twist in the tale is the icing on the cake. One of
the most original and well conceived Superman stories
to ever be committed to print.
