Seeking revenge against their positive matter universe counterparts - the fabled JLA - the Crime Syndicate of America breaches the barrier between universes and brings chaos to Earth. The antimatter universe's Weaponers of Qward tip the balance of power as they employ a new super-weapon that can wipe out both super-teams - and Earth's inhabitants in a heartbeat...

I found Syndicate Rules to be a bit of a yawnful experience. It's not that the writing is particularly poor, although it could have done with a little extra injection of action now and again, it's just that alternate universe tales like this are two a penny.

If you're going to have superheroes from an alternate universe impersonating superheroes from our dimension you'd better have a few tricks up your sleeves to keep the readers turning the pages. Sadly, there's nothing outstandingly new here to keep even the most loyal JLA fans glued to the events as they unfold.

The artwork is impressive enough, nothing that exciting but nothing to grumble about either. It's just that the story went on for far too long. If this had been half the length, then it may have been more easily digestible.

At the end of the day this is a tale that failed to move me at all. It's not a bad story, just not particularly original. You might like to have a quick flick through this graphic novel before you part with your money.
