The SG-1 team arrive on a planet and are immediately captured
by a race of aliens led by a group of Jaffa. These aliens
claim that they have an unresolved dispute with our heroes
- the only problem is that O'Neill and his crew can't recall
ever meeting them before...
Double
Jeopardy starts strangely and then descends into pure
madness. Just under 12 minutes into the action and any devoted
fan will start to wonder what the hell is going on. If
you remember the season one episode Tin Man then you
may be able to work out what the hell is going on. If not,
don't worry everything is explained.
Directed
by Michael Shanks this episode shows that there are consequences
to SG-1's actions. While they believed on an earlier mission
that they were doing some good, changing the way a culture
operates is not necessarily a good idea.
Now
that O'Neill and chums have a nice new attack ship what should
they do with it? Helping the Tok'ra move base seems to be
a good idea until one of their old foes decides to let Apophis
know in on the act...
Exodus
sees season four come to a gripping end. One
scene worth watching out for is where Selmak and O'Neill are
walking around the Goa'uld mothership. This is a particularly
long one-take scene and if you watch closely you can see that
they actually walk around the ship and end up back where they
started. It's
also great to see O'Neill questioning just exactly how he
is supposed to know where to stand for the 'beam-out' rings
to find him.
The
ending is very reminiscent of a Star Trek: Voyager
style plot but even a monkey should be able to work out how
this will be resolved. Still, gripping entertainment.
"What?
Is that my lot!" I hear you cry. "Two episodes!
What a rip off!" Ah, but as to be expected from MGM (Have
they ever let us down in the past?) there are tons of additional
material here to keep everyone happy. Ignoring the excellent
additional audio commentaries for each episode, there is also
a look at season five, a glimpse of the 100th episode and
a video diary by Teryl Rothery and several other interesting
bits and pieces.
This
is another great disc from MGM and well worth parting with
your money. Lets hope season five lives up to what has been
a fantastic fourth series.
