Amelie
Poulain is a young French girl who was raised by overprotective
parents. Once she is old enough she leaves her home and finds
work as a waitress. Life if dull until she finds an old tin
box in her flat. The box contains a schoolboy's long forgotten
memories. She then decides she will hunt down the now middle-aged
owner and in addition right the wrongs in the world and help
the lonely find love...
Amelie
is
directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet who will probably be better
know to you for his movie Delicatessen. This movie
is one of the most heart warming films that I have seen for
years. For those of you who still cling on to the belief that
good things happen to good people then this movie is for you.
Audrey
Tautou is wonderful as the helping Amelie and it is difficult
not to draw comparisons with a young Audrey Hepburn.
There
are plenty of very funny moments (including a lot of subtle
jokes surrounding the death of Princess Diana) and fans of
Delicatessen will spot the similar sex scene in here.
A
wonderfully fulfilling movie that will have you coming back
to it time and time again.
