The body of a church warden is discovered with a knife
plunged into his back in a quiet country church. As the church
collection has vanished the motive seems to be obvious - theft,
but no sooner have Morse and Lewis begun to investigate than
there is another death. As the mystery deepens Morse finds
himself with more murders on his hands and no apparent motive
other than they were all present at The feast of the Convergence
of St Augustin. In a race against time, Morse and Lewis struggle
to find the connection between the murders...
Service
of All the Dead has an excellent plot with an unexpected
twist. This episode must be something of a record with six
murders in total.
Morse
shows his weaker side, with yet another love interest. This
time the object of his affection is the local church cleaner,
to whom he becomes quite attached and he even lies in court
to protect.
A
thoroughly enjoyable episode with plenty going on.
Morse
is called to investigate the suspicious death of a wealthy
American tourist who has unexpectedly died of a heart attack.
Prior to her death, the victim had announced that a precious
jewel, which she had inherited, was going to be donated to
a Museum in Oxford...
In
The Wolvercote Tongue Morse is on the trial of the
jewel, known as the Wolvercote Tongue. While he is investigating
its disappearance, the curator of the museum is found dead,
floating in the Oxford canal. Coincidence? Or are the two
deaths related?
Not
one of the most gripping episodes in the series, but still
an entertaining watch. And anyone who know Oxford fairly well
will be enthralled by the productions filming locations -
with lots of historic buildings and places of interest to
see.
The
DVD also includes a production gallery of some of the actors
taken on location.
