Colin
Dexter's super sleuth Inspector Morse has an ear for music,
a taste for beer and a nose for crime and now his entire collection
of stories are available in a DVD box set...
From
the very first episode (The Dead of Jerico) this series
is on the right track. This, their first investigation firmly
establishes Morse and Lewis as a winning team and is the start
of a long and lasting partnership. An intense debut episode,
gripping from the outset. An added bonus for Doctor Who
fans is that Patrick Troughton guest stars in this episode.
Other
episodes worth mentioning include Service of All the Dead,
which must be something of a record with six murders in
total; The Settling of the Sun, which presents an interesting
look at the roots of revenge for the injustices carried out
during World War II; Driven To Distraction, which has
Morse pursuing a serial killer; and Second Time Around,
which involves the death of a young child.
This
collection is beautifully presented in packaging which is
designed to look like a case file - nice touch. And
at just over £6 a disc (or just over £5 if you
purchase from Amazon.co.uk)
If
you didn't get around to buying the single discs then you
really should get hold of this collection. It's drama like
Inspector Morse which illustrate why the UK still leads
the world when it comes to quality television productions.
