At nine years old, Hal visits his father on his deathbed.
Heavily sedated, the last piece of advice he can offer his
son is to find a girl with 'a perfect can and hot totties'
and so is born 'Shallow Hal'. Years later we see Hal trying
his luck with all the pretty girls who are quite obviously
out of his league. His luck changes when self-help Guru, Tony
Robbins, hypnotises Hal so he can only see the inner beauty
of others. From this point on, with his new confidence, Hal
can get any girl he wants. Meeting Rosemary he falls in love
and can't believe his luck until much later when he is dehypnotised...
If
you liked There's Something About Mary and Dumb
and Dumber then you'll certainly love Shallow Hal.
It's simple, obvious and down right hilarious. The Farrelly
Brothers have done it again, bringing us a great story with
heaps of comedy for everyone.
There
are plenty of special features on this DVD; unfortunately
the numerous short documentaries repeat themselves time and
time again. Although interesting, especially on how Gwyneth
Paltrow's body suit was made to fit, I feel seeing this once
was quite enough.
If
you want a light hearted film that doesn't need your undivided
attention then this is for you.
